The RED TAILED HAWK Bird of Prey

Hawk's air-springed muscles helped him glide
so swiftly down the mountain side
with sinew buldging spotted rump
he vaulted o'r a rocky hump
Decendants of Chief Joseph's herd
Hawk's canter was like a flying bird
Swollen streams couldnt break his stride
His head held high with Nes Pierce pride
I rode that steed with fleeting speed
his strong legs breaking through high weed
hailstones splattered, horseshoes clattered
and a flock of wild grouse chattered
On shale slid Hawk, tripped and stumbled
down the slope we flipped and tumbled
the snow flakes started swirling down
as I lay hurt, on rocky ground
I was dazed, my body aching
Dizzy, sore and both legs shaking
we both felt pain from head to toes
Yet hurt, Hawk raised me with his nose
I wrapped my wounds and mounting, moaned
said " Come Hawk, now take us home"
around his nect my arms were tied
he started down the mountain side
I dreamed of being safe and warm
As Hawk plowed through that raging storm
and somewhere on that awful trek
I slumped across that great arched neck
Then thoughts came flooding in my head
my wife sat crying by my bed
I wont forget those words she said
"He brought you home...but Hawk is dead"
"For three whole days you've been alseep
the snow outside is five feet deep
once you were home safe and sound
Hawk whinnied once, then dead fell down."
She said "He brought you here on will
and fell when coming down that hill
his legs were gone, but still he came
and when he stopped you breathed his name"
"Oh, no! My God it just cant be."
The screams were coming out of me
"Oh, please don't tell me Hawk has died!"
Then my wife held me while I cried
I know he wasnt man, of course
But just a big ol spotted horse
So tell me, should I miss him so?

I thank you, holy Lord, almighty Father, eternal God, who deigned to feast me, sinful and unworthy servant, with the precious body and blood of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, not for any merit of mine, but only because of your merciful goodness. And I pray that this Holy Communion, far from condemning me to punishment, may bring about my pardon and salvation, encompassing me with the armor of faith and the shield of a good will. By it let my vices be done away, all lustful desires extinguished. May it advance me in charity, patience, humility, obedience, and every other virtue. Age it's only a capsule of time

Make a pledge to seek wisdom, to be helpful, respectful, and reliable to those around you, not only for good karma, but to also be a great example of what a person should be to those around you. Nothing compares to the clarity of the limitless night sky

gossamer scarf thrown across forever.
We take so much for granted.
The common beauty of everyday life, the sweet
sleep, ga lv di, and quiet breathing
the night offers.
It seems that whatever knocks loudest gets our
attention, and all that delights and comforts
us slips by without our seeing it.
Now, while the night sky is so spectacular,
it is a gift of the season to look up and know that
we are spirit-freed and unlimited.
Not even the immense universe and the
glittering stars created for us
can compare to the stars in our hearts
and
what has been prepared for us.

Heavy Crosses to Bear

Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If
anyone would come after me, he must
deny himself and take up his cross and
follow Me.

We all have crosses to bear in this life. Perhaps your cross
may seen like a heavy one, however if you look around you will
find others with a much bigger one than yourself.

Therefore when your "cross" seems to heavy remember
that God is there helping you carry it. After all God has said,
"Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
( Hebrews 13:5 )

So put your faith in God, and remember that Jesus said,
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God;
trust also in Me. ( JOHN 14:1 ) Then let
the wings of faith uphold you, uphold you indeed!

May the wings of faith uphold you
When your cross is hard to bear,
As temptations surround you,
And no one seems to care.

Klamath Indians Legend

Crater Lake was a place of mystery to the Klamath Indians. The Klamath Indians must have lived in the region as early as 7,700 years ago, because artifacts such as obsidian tools, spear throwers, and moccasins have been found beneath the Mazama ash layers to the north and east of Crater Lake. The Klamath Indians describe the catastropic eruption of Mount Mazama and the creation of Crater Lake in one of their legends. Their legend of a raging war between two great volcanoes, Mount Mazama and Mount Shasta, parallels the geological history of Crater Lake.

The spirits of the Earth and sky often came and talked with the people. Llao was the spirit of the Below-World who lived beneath Lao-Yaina (today known as Mount Mazama). Skell was the spirit of the Above-World. Llao often came up and stood on top of Lao-Yaina, and his head would touch the stars near the home of Skell. There was no lake then, just a hole through which Llao passed to see the outside world. One day, Llao saw Loha, daughter of the Klamath Indian chief, and fell in love with her beauty. She rejected him because he was ugly and was from the Below-World. He got angry and swore that he would take revenge on her people. He tried to destroy the people with the curse of fire. The Klamath Indian chief sought help from Skell.

Skell descended from the sky to the top of Mount Shasta. Skell and Llao were thundering and trembling the Earth, hurling red hot rocks back and forth to each other (from Mount Shasta to Mount Mazama), causing great landslides. A terrible darkness spread over the area for days. All spirits of Earth and sky took part in this battle, creating intense fear among the people. Attempting to calm the ferocious volcano gods and to make up for the sins of the tribe, two medicine men offered to sacrifice themselves and jumped into the pit of Below-World. Impressed by their heroic sacrifice, Skell fought even harder. He finally defeated Llao, driving Llao deep down into the Below-World. He collapsed the top of Mount Mazama to imprison Llao forever beneath the world. Skell wanted peace and tranquility to cover up this dark pit, so he filled it with the beautiful blue water.
