Putting on your shades

Putting on your shadesPrv 8:22-31

Thus says the wisdom of God:

"The LORD possessed me, the beginning of his ways,

the forerunner of his prodigies of long ago;

from of old I was poured forth,

at the first, before the earth.

When there were no depths I was brought forth,

when there were no fountains or springs of water;

before the mountains were settled into place,

before the hills, I was brought forth;

while as yet the earth and fields were not made,

nor the first clods of the world.

"When the Lord established the heavens I was there,

when he marked out the vault over the face of the deep;

when he made firm the skies above,

when he fixed fast the foundations of the earth;

when he set for the sea its limit,

so that the waters should not transgress his command;

then was I beside him as his craftsman,

and I was his delight day by day,

playing before him all the while,

playing on the surface of his earth;

and I found delight in the human race."

My Wish for You

My Wish for YouMay you find serenity and tranquility
in a world you may not always understand.

May the pain you have known
and the conflict you have experienced
give you the strength to walk through life
facing each new situation with courage and optimism.

Always know that there are those
whose love and understanding will always be there,
even when you feel most alone.

May a kind word,
a reassuring touch,
and a warm smile
be yours every day of your life,
and may you give these gifts
as well as receive them.

May the teachings of those you admire
become part of you,
so that you may call upon them.

Remember, those whose lives you have touched
and who have touched yours
are always a part of you,
even if the encounters were less than you would have wished.
It is the content of the encounter
that is more important than its form.

May you not become too concerned with material matters,
but instead place immeasurable value
on the goodness in your heart.
Find time in each day to see beauty and love
in the world around you.

Realize that what you feel you lack in one regard
you may be more than compensated for in another.
What you feel you lack in the present
may become one of your strengths in the future.
May you see your future as one filled with promise and possibility.
Learn to view everything as a worthwhile experience.

May you find enough inner strength
to determine your own worth by yourself,
and not be dependent
on another's judgment of your accomplishments.

May you always feel loved

BILLY GRAHAM GIVES AN ANSWER WEDNESDAY: When Bad Things Happen, Did God Make a Mistake?

When Bad Things Happen, Has God Made a Mistake?

Q: I often wonder why God allows bad things to happen -- things like wars, and diseases that kill young children. Does God sometimes make a mistake and let things happen that really shouldn't have happened? -- P.D.

A: We don't always understand why God allows some things to happen; we wish we could, but in all honesty they remain a mystery to us. Some day, when we get to heaven, we will understand -- but until then, all we can do is learn to trust God, even in the dark places of life. As the Bible says, "We live by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7).

But no -- God does not make mistakes. That doesn't mean He is directly responsible for everything that happens in the world; evil is real, and some things happen in spite of God's perfect will. But God is perfect in all He does -- because He is God, and God is perfect. He isn't like we are, sinful and limited and imperfect; He is absolutely without sin.

And because He is perfect, we can trust Him in every situation we will ever face -- without exception. The Bible says, "As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him" (Psalm 18:30). If you have never done so, make Him your "shield" against the evils of this world by opening your heart and life to Jesus Christ.

Yes, this world is filled with heartache and sorrow. But it won't always be that way! Some day, Christ will come again, and death and sin and Satan will be banished. Put your faith and trust in Him, for He alone gives us hope -- both for this life, and for eternity

WORD'S OF WISOM from Sistah Poet a friend of mine.

Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large to worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. Promise Yourself! Today.

Prayer for the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit

Prayer for the Seven Gifts of the Holy SpiritPrayer for the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit May 22, '10 7:35 PM
for everyone

O Lord Jesus Christ Who, before ascending into Heaven, did promise to send the Holy Spirit to finish Your work in the souls of Your Apostles and Disciples, deign to grant the same Holy Spirit to me that He may perfect in my soul the work of Your grace and Your love.

Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal; the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the
light of Your divine truth; the Spirit of Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining heaven; the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with You and that I may
overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation; the Spirit of Knowledge that I may know God and know myself and grow
perfect in the science of the Saints; the Spirit of Piety that I may find the service of God sweet and amiable; the Spirit of Fear that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God and may dread in any way to displease Him. Mark me, dear Lord, with the sign of Your true disciples and animate me in all things with Your Spirit. Amen

The action of friendship

The action of friendshipThe action of friendship

Sometimes it is good to stop for a few minutes and think about the action of friendship in our lives.

Friendship is the feeling that joins the souls of some people to others, generating happiness and well-being.

Friendship is a tender expression of human beings who need to interchange the strength of emotion under the motivation of fraternal understanding.

Inspiring courage and self-denial, the friendship blooms the souls, blessing them with endurance for their battles.

In the contemporary world, there is such a lack of friendship!

Selfishness drives people apart and isolates them.

Friendship ties them close together in brotherhood.

Fear strikes souls and makes them unhappy.

Friendship brings peace and cheers persons.

Distrust brings disharmony to lives, but friendship equilibrates minds, sweetening the hearts.

Talking about deep love, the presence of friendship is essential.

It is born from an expression of sympathy and it becomes solid with the roots of safe and sound affection, dug into the earth of souls.

When other emotions get weak with the swing of misunderstandings, friendship lasts, devoted companionship of people who care for each other.

If friendship disappeared from Earth, the spiritual life of mankind would fall apart.

Friendship is sweet and patient, attentive and active.

Careful, it fades away so that the one for whom we feel affection can shine.

It sustains during weak moments, and frees at painful moments.

Friendship is easy to be encouraged.

To cultivate it is the duty of all those who reflect and have aspirations. Therefore, no one is successful having bitterness in ones´ soul or being indifferent to the delight of the flow of friendship

Let's not loose out on our miracle...

Let's not loose out on our miracle...If you plant honesty, you will reap trust.
If you plant goodness, you will reap friends.
If you plant humility, you will reap greatness.
If you plant perseverance, you will reap victory.
If you plant consideration, you will reap harmony.
If you plant hard work, you will reap success.
If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation.
If you plant openness, you will reap intimacy.
If you plant patience, you will reap improvements.
If you plant faith, you will reap miracles.
But
If you plant dishonesty, you will reap distrust.
If you plant selfishness, you will reap loneliness.
If you plant pride, you will reap destruction.
If you plant envy, you will reap trouble.
If you plant laziness, you will reap stagnation.
If you plant bitterness, you will reap isolation.
If you plant greed, you will reap loss.
If you plant gossip, you will reap enemies.
If you plant worries, you will reap wrinkles.
If you plant sin, you will reap guilt.

Let's not loose out on our miracle...

Let's not loose out on our miracle...Hi..family and friends..
Let us not cancel our miracle by harboring bitterness, unforgiveness, grudge, impure and negative thoughts. Let's not loose out on entering our promised land by complaining, murmuring, grumbling. The Israelites not only roamed in the desert for 40 years, one generation failed to see the promised land.`
Abba father..
Help us to be humble, loving, kind and not be hard hearted, unforgiving and bitter..
In Jesus Name..
Amen

A New Kind of Hero by Max Lucado

A New Kind of Hero by Max Lucado A New Kind of Hero by Max Lucado May 16, '10 4:47 AM
by Nonoy for group christianwarriors

I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep as the Father knows me. ~ John 10:14-15

BEHOLD A HERO of the west: the cowboy.

A thousand head of cattle pass behind him. A thousand miles of trail lie before him. A thousand women would love to hold him. But none do. None will. He lives to drive cattle, and he drives cattle to live. He is honest in poker and quick with a gun. Hard riding. Slow talking. His best friend is his horse, and his strength is his grit.

He needs no one. He is a cowboy. The American hero.

Behold a hero in the Bible: the shepherd.

On the surface he appears similar to the cowboy. He, too, is rugged. He sleeps where the jackals howl and works where the wolves prowl. Never off duty. Always alert. Like the cowboy, he makes his roof the stars and the pasture his home.
But that is where the similarities end.

The shepherd loves his sheep. It's not that the cowboy doesn't appreciate the cow; it's just that he doesn't know the animal. He doesn't even want to. Have you ever seen a picture of a cowboy caressing a cow? Have you ever seen a shepherd caring for a sheep? Why the difference?

Simple. The cowboy leads the cow to slaughter. The shepherd leads the sheep to be shorn. The cowboy wants the meat of the cow. The shepherd wants the wool of the sheep. And so they treat the animals differently.

The cowboy drives the cattle. The shepherd leads the sheep.

A herd has a dozen cowboys. A flock has one shepherd.

The cowboy wrestles, brands, herds, and ropes. The shepherd leads, guides, feeds, and anoints.

The cowboy knows the name of the trail hands. The shepherd knows the name of the sheep.

The cowboy whoops and hollers at the cows. The shepherd calls each sheep by name.

Aren't we glad Christ didn't call himself the Good Cowboy? But some do perceive God that way. A hard-faced, square-jawed ranch- hand from heaven who drives his church against its will to places it doesn't want to go.

But that's a wrong image. Jesus called himself the Good Shepherd. The Shepherd who knows his sheep by name and lays down his life for them. The Shepherd who protects, provides, and possesses his sheep. The Bible is replete with this picture of God.

Eighty percent of Jesus' listeners made their living off of the land. Many were shepherds. They lived on the mesa with the sheep. No flock ever grazed without a shepherd, and no shepherd was ever off duty. When sheep wandered, the shepherd found them. When they fell, he carried them. When they were hurt, he healed them.

Sheep aren't smart. They tend to wander into running creeks for water, then their wool grows heavy and they drown. They need a shepherd to lead them to "calm water" (Ps. 23:2). They have no natural defense—no claws, no horns, no fangs. They are helpless. Sheep need a shepherd with a "rod and ... walking stick" (Ps. 23:4) to protect them. They have no sense of direction. They need someone to lead them "on paths that are right" (Ps. 23:3).

So do we. We, too, tend to be swept away by waters we should have avoided. We have no defense against the evil lion who prowls about seeking who he might devour. We, too, get lost. "We all have wandered away like sheep; each of us has gone his own way" (Isa. 53:6).

We need a shepherd. We don't need a cowboy to herd us; we need a shepherd to care for us and to guide us.

He's not a cowboy, and we aren't cattle. He doesn't brand us, and we're not on the way to the market. He guides, feeds, and anoints. And Word has it that he won't quit until we reach the homeland.
